Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Division just inked a deal with Gregory, Inc. as a full line national distributor of Avery Graphics branded products.

Gregory has a solid reputation for distributing sign-making materials and supplies. The company has also been a national wholesaler of digital and screen print, computer cut text, and die cutting services to the graphics industry for over 53 years. All this together puts Gregory in a position to offer Avery products to customers in all 50 states as well as wholesale graphics and personal technical support.

Gregory will immediately begin supplying the full Avery Graphics product line.  Avery said it is confident that all customers in the demanding graphics market will have easy access to exceptional products, technical expertise, and focused customer service.

Avery also said it will continue to add value to the wider graphics industry through a range of training and education programs and new product development to meet the demands of existing and emerging technologies.

Avery Dennison’s Graphics & Reflective Products Division has ended its distribution deal with Grimco. The company issued a press release around the decisions.

What does that mean to you? It means you can’t buy Avery screen print and sign cut vinyls through Grimco anymore as of now. Come next month, you won’t be able to buy Avery’s line of digital vinyl media from Grimco either. But don’t worry. You can still buy these products through other partners in Avery’s network of distributors in North America. But if you are a Grimco customer, you’ll need to begin developing a new relationship now.

“We are committed to working closely with our distributors to ensure our complete line of vinyl products are easily available to sign shops,” said Mousa Elsarky, Marketing Director, Graphics and Reflective Products Division North America. “We will continue to provide the market with the broadest selection of high-quality digital, screen print and cut vinyl products.”

There’s an inspirational story in the Memphis Business Journal about the success of local sign guys in the face of competition. It features a Fast Signs franchisee and LSI’s Mason Ezzell III.
The story tells how LSI started as a laminator and bindery business but evolved into identification, promotional products and digital printing for signage. Ezzell says his company made a big investment in large format printers when the equipment was expensive. Ezzell sees competition growing, but like his counterpart at Fast Signs, he’s not worried because of reputation and the company’s expertise in vehicle wrapping. Read the rest of this entry »

Nazdar SourceOne has unveiled its 2008 Digital Media selector swatch book. I haven’t seen one personally just yet, but the company’s marketing materials promise an enhanced selection of flexible and rigid wide format digital media for aqueous, solvent and UV curable inkjet printers.

Nazdar is also touting an expanded product range that includes products for a wide variety of applications such as point of purchase advertising, front and backlit exhibit display graphics, exterior banners, and vehicle wraps. Sounds promising… Read the rest of this entry »
