3M Commercial Graphics is proud to announce its Scotchprint brand Wrap Film Series 1080 has been awarded the title of “Coolest New Product of 2011.”  The award was given at the New Product Showcase competition during the ISA International Sign Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The New Product Showcase highlighted 14 of the sign industry’s most innovative products that were introduced into the marketplace within the last year. Attendees experienced firsthand the features and benefits of cutting edge new products and technology. After listening to brief presentations of each product, they were asked to cast their vote.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a leader in the graphic film industry,” said Doug Blackwell, 3M business development manager. “Scotchprint film 1080 has proven to be anything but ordinary.  Its distinctive look, available in a growing number of colors and textures, offers our customers a chance to stand out in the crowd.  It really is cool.”

Scotchprint wrap film series 1080 is a dual cast film specifically designed to provide dimensional stability and durability without the need for an overlaminate. The pressure-activated adhesive allows you to slide and reposition the film until you apply firm pressure. The non-visible air release channels assure a fast, easy and virtually bubble-free installation. A 60-inch film width makes it possible to wrap almost any section of a vehicle without creating seams.

3M Commercial Graphics introduces Scotchcal Gloss Overlaminate 8528. This new overlaminate is specifically designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, ultraviolet rays and acid dew common in Los Angeles and other west coast cities. In regions subject to intense heat, these conditions can lead to spotting and other discoloration in overlaminates.

“Our new overlaminate means longer-lasting graphics that stay vibrant, which helps make the most of our customers’ investment and can set them apart from the competition,” said Tim Boxeth, business manager for 3M Commercial Graphics. “The glossy finish gives that wet-paint look that customers are demanding.”

Scotchcal overlaminate 8528 offers customers peace of mind with the industry’s first published warranty for horizontal surfaces – two years for horizontal surfaces and up to seven years for vertical surfaces.

The 2-mil cast vinyl provides excellent conformability and dimensional stability. It is designed for use with solvent, latex and UV inks.

The Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Division just rolled out the MPI 1005 Supercast Series, a line of next generation conformable cast vinyl films.

Supercast films feature enhanced conformability and stay down over complex curves and rivets with no tenting or lifting – a new option that is ideal for vehicle wraps, fleet graphics and architectural applications.

“I’ve been installing vehicle wraps for many years and the Avery MPI 1005 Supercast films are the most conformable films I’ve worked with and seen on the market,” says Justin Pate, a globally recognized graphic installer with 14 years of experience. “It’s like driving a super luxury car and did everything I have always wanted a film to do with the greatest of ease. The print quality is top shelf and wraps are faster and easier to install and the colors really pop.”

Need to learn more about vehicle wrapping? Check out our e-book, How to Wrap Vehicles.

MPI 1005 Supercast is available with Easy Apply RS, Easy Apply and Gloss Opaque LTR technologies to provide faster and easier application and long-term removability. Easy Apply air egress technology helps eliminate wrinkles and bubbles while Easy Apply RS provides repositionability and slideability, allowing the film to be moved easily before pressure is applied.

“These films offer the ultimate in print quality and conformability for a variety of applications,” says Elizabeth Parks, Global Products Manager at Avery Dennison. “Because MPI 1005 Supercast films feature Easy Apply RS and Easy Apply technologies, installation with these films is easier and quicker which reduces application time and lowers cost.”

Key features of the Avery MPI 1005 Supercast series include:

  • Enhanced conformability allows the films to stay down over complex curves and rivets
  • Expanded color gamut capability
  • High gloss and smooth face make images and colors pop
  • Consistent printability and enhanced image quality

By pairing MPI 1005 Supercast with Avery Graphics overlaminates, Avery says longer-term durability and rigidity are achieved.
