Roland DGA Corporation has announced the addition of two new high-performance models to its VersaCAMM printer/cutter line—the 30-inch VP-300 and 54-inch VP-540.

Featuring accelerated print speeds, an optional newly designed media take-up system and new VersaWorks 2.2 RIP software, the VersaCAMM VP models make it easier than ever to print and contour cut four-color CMYK signs, banners, billboards, POP displays, labels, decals, vehicle and floor graphics, heat transfers for apparel and more.

VersaCAMM VP models also feature numerous hardware upgrades including new belt drives, grit rollers, ink dampers and pumps. New VersaCAMM VP models are backed by Roland’s new Two-Year Trouble-Free Warranty.

“Since its introduction, the VersaCAMM line has offered an unmatched entry-level price point as well as versatility, reliability and ease of use,” said Rick Scrimger, vice president and general manager of Roland’s Color Products Division. “The new VP models build on this industry-leading technology with a host of advanced productivity tools that make the world’s number-one printer/cutter an even better value.”

Featuring four print heads, a new faster network board and several additional internal systems upgrades, the new VP series achieves print speeds of up to 166 sqft/hr. for the VP-540 and 124 sqft/hr. for the VP-300. New media flanges and additional pinch rollers secure the heaviest media in place for accurate feeding and tracking through even the longest production runs. To better support unattended printing, VersaCAMM VPs can be purchased with an optional media take-up system. This newly designed system features a constant tensioning system that aids in improved media handling and facilitates unattended productivity. It accommodates rolls weighing up to 66 pounds for the VP-540 and up to 44 pounds for the VP-300.

Like the rest of the VersaCAMM line, the VP series features ECO-SOL MAX ink for rich, dense colors and outstanding print quality. ECO-SOL MAX enables fast drying, offer superior scratch resistance and ensures durability in even the harshest outdoor environments for up to three years.

Designed for both novices and experienced graphics professionals, the VersaCAMM VP series features Roland’s print/cut technology which delivers a seamless workflow for the production of complex sign graphics—printing and then automatically contour cutting on one device without any steps in between. As a result, the VP series can be operated unattended. The print/cut feature also enables the VersaCAMM VP to print and cut without registration or crop marks. This both reduces media waste and increases usable print area.

To further streamline the production process, VersaCAMM VPs include Quadralign, Roland’s four-point optical registration system which allows users to remove prints, laminate, and reload them for cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion.

The VersaCAMM VP series was engineered from the ground up for easy operation and maintenance with a new compact design tailored for general office and retail environments. A redesigned LED panel features simplified menu commands for standard operations such as cleaning, test printing, setting origin point, and implementing user-defined printing conditions. Media presets allow users to select cut depth, heater temperatures and bi-directional calibrations for up to eight of their most common applications.

VersaCAMM VPs also feature an automated cleaning system which allows for immediate printing at any time, even if the machine has been idle for an extended period of time.

All VersaCAMM models come complete with VersaWorks. Built upon the Adobe PostScript CPSI RIP engine, VersaWorks features a graphical user interface that allows users to maximize their Roland inkjet without a lengthy learning curve. The VP series comes bundled with Version 2.2 of VersaWorks featuring Roland Color, Roland’s new spot color fidelity system.

In addition to Roland Color, VersaWorks 2.2 features Variable Data Printing, allowing users to merge TXT or CSV data fields with a pre-defined design template to output variable text and graphic elements. Ideal for labels, name badges, plaques, POP and POS displays, menus and other custom graphics, VersaWorks Variable Data Printing allows users to efficiently produce a series of digital prints in which text and/or graphics change from one print to the next. Using Variable Data Printing saves significant production time because it requires processing of the pre-defined template just once for the entire production run.
